DVD9 to DVD5 - ripping extras

I have a DVD thats 7 gb in size, the actual film itself is only an hour or so long, the extras taking up 2 hours of footage.

I want to be able to rip just the movie and burn that to a dvdr without having to re-encode the movie and loose any quality. How do I do this?

Im new to ripping etc, so any help will be appreciated.

If you don't need the menus, rip it to your HDD using DVD Fab Decrypter, load it into DVD Shrink, click on Re-Author and drag just the movie to the left-hand pane. If it fits, Shrink will create a new, smaller DVD with just the movie (and chapter stops, but no menus), ready for burning (if you have Nero, CopytoDVD or VD Decrypter installed, it can burn as well).

If the movie is still too big, tick Deep Analysis and AEC, and Shrink will reduce the size to fit a single disk.

If the amount Shrink needs to Shrink to is too large (for me this is 90% or smaller), DVD Rebuilder with CCE or ProCoder will give you the best quality output.

Why not just split the movie?
Works well no loss. Or at least less than compressing.
Also if it has more than on esoundtrack the others can be removed. Frequently that makes a large dvd much smaller.

The easiest option I've found for someone new to doing this is CloneDVD2. Everything is done with a user interface that provides previews of what you are including or removing. You just check what you want, including the option of keeping or removing menus. They have a trial available that is fully functional. I highly recommend it.
