Can anyone advise me:
I'm trying to copy a few DVD's.
I'm using DVD Decrypter.
The DVD gets so far and then fails. When I try the same DVD in a stand alone player, it plays throught just fine.
When I watch the progress on Decrypter, it ticks along just fine at around 5.5/5.1 x speed, it suddenly reaches about 46& and then the speed drops down to Zero followed by ' retries ' and completely fails.
I've tried running it through Nero and that doesn't work either ......
Any ideas?
Thanks

It could be DVD encryption that DVDDecrypter can't handle. DVDFab Decrypter might.
Or it could be a damaged DVD disc. -
Thanks.
I downloaded it. The film finished successfully in no time at all. However, it only captured about half of the film. I'm assuming therefore that it decrypted as far as the bad point and no further ....... shame !
Any pointers? -
If it's a commercial DVD, it may be one of the newer forms of copy protection, but DVDFab should have handled it. Have you examined the disc for scratches or blotches? Scratches some usually be buffed out. Blotches are a problem with the disc that is not repairable.
If it's not a newer encryption, DVDDecrypter can be set to pass on errors, but you might lose that portion of the video.
There are some other programs out there that can handle errors also. Someone here may be more famiar with them and give you some better tips. -
Thanks for getting back to me ....
It's not a commercial DVD, I have another 2, which again are not commercial and the other 2 are very new.
I have tried to clean the first one and cannot see any major marks apart from the usual minor scuffs.
Decrypter is what I use first time 'round, but failed.
I also tried DVDrebuilder which threw it out 1/2 way too.
From scanning the forum, it appears to be a common problem but was hoping for a ' fool proof ' solution. -
I downloaded the programme and thought, errrm - it looks a bit too sophisticated for me !
I gave it a go and it ran through the film.
When it was complete I tried the film through PowerDVD and the bad frame was there, but lasted no more than a couple of seconds.
The problem occured when I tried to burn the film through DVDShrink.
It wouldn't recognise the file, I think maybe because the output was now 1 Video and 1 Audio as opposed to it being all together?
The programme itself looks good, but I fear it may all be a bit too advanced for me.
The result is that I'm back to square one
