  1. I was wondering what program you all are using in place of DVD Decrypter? Are there any program out there that would do as many things as it would and is still free?

  5. DVDDecrypter will still do what you want for 95% of the DVD's out there but DVDFab Decrypter will handle the rest and scratched ones too.

Moviegeek is correct - but in my experience, DVDDecrypter even takes care of >95%. My 2 favorite backup tools (DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink) are no longer maintaned, but they are still by far the most usable (and used) applications for my DVD backup needs.

  8. All right. Thank you all for the input. It sounds as though DVDFab Decrypter is proabaly the best bet for a new maintained program. I do still have DVD Decrypter and it does still work and of course I use DVD shrink as well, but I was not sure how long it would be before they would not work and I would need to find something else.
    Thank you again everyone.

  9. In my case both DVD Decrypter and ImgBurn created unplayable DVDs. I was using the Verbatim DataLife DVD-R and the DVDs would play only in 1 out of 4 DVD players I have. Once I burned the same content on the same DVD using the NERO 6.6 version the DVD played on all the DVD players.

Didn't you have issues with DVD-Lab too? Strange how the same one can have issues with the 3 generally considered most reliable apps in the business...

  11. Nope, no problems with DVDLab. I had question on how to use some features in DVDLab.

Plus this is of the topic. This thread is about what program you all are using in place of DVD Decrypter and I am simply stating my experience.

    No need to get hostal.

Just out of curiosity does DVD Decrypter work on the newer protections like Arcoos?

No, but I've come across very few Arcoos protected discs. DVDFab Decrypter takes care of these few cases.

Actually dvddecrypter will take care of Arcoos protected disks provided you have a protected sectors list ... you can either download a protected sectors list or make your own using dvddecrypter ... its a simple proccess ... see this link for instructions http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=51810
