I have a file that is 4 shorter films joined together. I used TMPGEnc Plus and then used the simple de-multiplex tool to split them into video and audio. Whenever I went to author them it only registered the first file that was joined! Instead of a couple of hours of video I've got 37 minutes! Since then I have read up a bit on the subject of DVD etc (thanks to all you guys!) and realised that it is a moeg 1 file.
Is this the reason that only the first file is registering?
Can I Mulitiplex it and then convert to mpeg 2 to put on DVD?
If so what program can I use to convert from mpeg 1 to 2?
Please bear with my silly questions but I've only just started (well 6 months or so!!)

How were they joined? Joining MPEGs before authoring is not generally a good idea. It may be a joining problem. Joining them can also cause a higher risk of sync problems.
The authoring program can do the combining better. If you have the individual files, just add them in. MPEG-1 is within the DVD specification. TDA will change the audio to 48K. I wouldn't convert them to MPEG-2.
All films need to be the same format, resolution and audio or you may have problems. You can check them with the latest version of Gspot. If they are VCD format, you should have no problems. Audio should be MPEG-1, layer 2 or PCM. -
thanx for that. i'll bear that in mind for future clips! is there a way to 'unjoin' joined clips? (thought this carried on from original question so sorry if I should have started new thread)
