    Hi oxide,

    I think that you're getting that message because your avi is a DivX file (mpeg4) I am trying to sort out the same problem.
    My first effort is to install the DivX codecs and player - see the Tools section.
    Also I am thinking that my DivX file may be in need of repair. There is some software which may help for this as well.

  4. i have sorted this out already. you need to install the microsoft mpeg 4 codecs, it is on microsoft's site, which is something called Media Tools.
