I just picked this game up yesterday, and so far, it's pretty damn cool. However theres not a whole lot different from the original, which i guess is okay, since the original was frickin' amazing.

There are some notable changes, like for example it seems they tried to make it a little more lifelike. theres no in game saving, it just saves automatically when you get to certain points in the level. and the theres no more health meter, i'm still trying to figure out exactly how the health thing works.

Overall it does look better then the original, especially the weapons.

I have to say i was a little dissapointed, as i was expecting it to be twice as good as the original, but it's still a hell of a fun game.

    Anyone else played it yet?

As long as it's as intense as the first one I was gonna buy it, and so far I have not been disappointed. Multiplayer isn't as good as the old one since the maps seem a lot tighter and there's not as many good places to snipe. I'm still bowling through the single-player Russian missions right now. The weapons seems ridiculuously accurate when zoomed now though. The Russian SMG is terribly lethal like this. And the regular bolt rifles are better for sniping than the scoped variants because there's almost no sway when zoomed in, even when standing. I tried using a sniper rifle for a while then gave it up for the K98.

The save is good and bad now. It's good because you don't have to stop your rhythm to save mid-level and it seems to keep you pretty close to where you died. However sometimes it brings you back right in the middle of heavy fire, or in one case right next to a Panzer.

The health thing is wierd. It's kinda like The Getaway where you just sit still to heal. Basically you just need to avoid taking a lot of damage in a short amount of time. At least grenades can still take you out in one blow.

Again the sound is one of the best parts of the game. Do I ever jump when a hidden MG42 starts barking out of nowhere! And I'd rather the voices were in their native languages with subtitles.

Totally worth the $$$ just for single player though

Got it 2 weeks ago and have lost a lot of sleep. Played 8 hours straight one night. Game flat kicks ass on line. CTF is my favorite.

I thought there was a DVD version of the game? I got shipped a CD one but I could have sword I read DVD on it somewhere. Not that it matters much. It's not like we're back in the days of Baldur's Gate where you had to play the game off of the 6 CDs and had to switch them as you went between different maps. Now you just load it all up on your system and put the CDs away.

No, that's the title of the console version of CoD2. I think the DVD version is a limited edition packaging that has tons of extra materials much like a special edition movie DVD.

Yes there is a DVD version for PC's, that is the edition I have. I have played about half of the game and its simply amazing. Graphics are great and seems a bit more like a real war setting, reaching points where its a good gun battle to overun the enemy.

I think it might have been call of duty that I read had a GI Joe mod. But they had to take it down, that killed my only interest in the game.

Yeah and vehicles and everything. Its gone now though. I'm pretty sure it was Call of Duty 2 it was for... or maybe BAttlefield 2, I can't keep up.
