I flashed with NIL's 1.14 his last release it worked fine up until a couple of months ago when I started buying 16x media. I am wondering how I can go back to the oem firmware? Do I just get the file from the manufacturer and then use dvrflash to force it back on?

The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!

DVRFlash v2.1.1 will do it for sure - just remember that:
DVRFlash allows anybody with a Pioneer OEM drive to flash to a true Pioneer drive and back (provided you have the kernel for the OEM firmware).
The kernel should be available with the zip of either 1.10 or 1.14 from the official Pioneer site.
