  1. Helllooo,

I am using Gadspot GS2002 4-channel DVR to record real life events but I have questions on converting and processing the video. First, I use to DVR manufacturer's converter to generate .avi from the recorded .264. Then, I run third party program to convert(2)* the .avi to a VirtualDub readable .avi format. This is a two-step process and it is very inconvenient for me to process and cut a lot of footages.

    So, my questions are:
    1. Does anyone know where can I find third party converter to allow me directly converting the recorded .264 to .avi format, which is readable by VirtualDub?
    2. The recording resolution is HD1 (15 fps) with best picture quality. I am looking for getting 5-10 fps .avi format with 10 fps preferred.

I am new to the video world but my group leader assign me the job. Thank you so much for replying the post. Please let me know if additional information is needed. Thanks again!

*I might get the convert(2) meaning wrong

  2. It might help if you posted a short sample video. Most people won't be familiar with that DVR's output. But it looks like you have a raw h.264 file. You can try AviDemux to mux the stream into an AVI file. VLC's convert tool can do this too.

  3. Thank you. I will try to post a short sample video later.

I downloaded AviDemux but a message "Could not open the file" popped out when I tried to open the h.264 file. I extracted the h.264 file directly from the DVR.

Also, I tried avc2avi, and I have Net Framework 2.0 installed. The 'debugger' error came out a few second later after I clicked on 'mux'. Can anyone please tell me what is going on?
