  1. hi, i use tmpgenc to convert my rmvb files to xvid avi, but no matter what video bitrate i set the CBR to, the video bitrate for the avi files turned out to be all different. I've tried changing the bitrate for xvid, but the output files just don't come out the same. I think the problem is that tmpgenc uses whatever bitrate the rmvb files have. can someone help on this, thank you.

XviD will use whatever value is stored in the registry which will be whatever is displayed in the codec's GUI. I wouldn't recommend TMPGEnc for avi encoding though.

  3. that's the only fast way for me to convert rmvb to avi :/
i think my xvid is messed up, i tried using virtualdub and recompress the video, xvid config is 1pass CBR, i set the bitrate to 2000kbps. During encoding, it started with 200kbyte/s, then slowly dropped to 80kbytes/s midway. that's not even "constant bitrate."

Well it is never really going to be CBR, more ABR. I just looked and I don't see where it says CBR. Just says 1 pass.

Could be possible that you saturated the codec.

  6. winavi sucks when converting to avi, it doesn't even work for rmvb-avi.
the only good thing about it is avi-dvd.
