help with rmvb to avi?

I have a divx player at home, i want to convert a rmvb file to avi, i have tried super and mediacoder also other video converter, the file is about 132,689KB. When it reaches about 40,000KB it slows down and i leave it on for about 3 hours it still doesn't finish? i am not using any codec, i am using videolan and real player. i tried to install divx 6.6 and real alternative, but still the same thing. all my other file could be converted but this one could not. i am guessing maybe the file is corrupted, is there a way to fix it? If not what should i do????? i don't want to use other method, i just want to stick with super or mediacoder.

i figured it out, i set it to ffmpeg and enable directshow, but when it finish converting, there's no sound? help?
