I am using DVD-Shrink to backup DVDs. When backing up I have the option of backing up to Hard Drive or to ISO Image (in addition to backing up directly to DVD-R). What are the advantages of each ? I notice that if I create an ISO image, I can't burn it to DVD-R with Shrink, but I have to use Nero. If I create VIDEO_TS files, i have to use DVD-Lab to create a DVD-R.

Ultimately you get the same finished product. You stated yourself that the only difference is in the manner in which you burn it.
Just comes down to personal preference. I do the Video_TS folder and then burn with roxio because I don't have nero and dvd decrypter has never burnt an ISO image for me (just doesn't work). -
In DVD SHRINK you can set to save as a ISO IMAGE then burn with DECRYPTER. Look in the preferences tab. I like creating a ISO image then using DECRYPTER to burn. No problems at all. I open up DECRYPTER after the ISO IMAGE is created by DVD SHRINK.

I like to use DVDShrink to create an ISO image first and then use Daemon Tools to mount and play the image with PowerDVD,just to check that the movie is OK.Then I burn with DVDDecrypter or IMGBurn.

I use VIDEO_TS because I can use DVD player software to verify that the nearly final product is what I wanted. I have yet to use any DVD player software that can use ISO images straight-away.
