ISO Image vs. VIDEO_TS

I am using DVD-Shrink to backup DVDs. When backing up I have the option of backing up to Hard Drive or to ISO Image (in addition to backing up directly to DVD-R). What are the advantages of each ? I notice that if I create an ISO image, I can't burn it to DVD-R with Shrink, but I have to use Nero. If I create VIDEO_TS files, i have to use DVD-Lab to create a DVD-R.

Ultimately you get the same finished product. You stated yourself that the only difference is in the manner in which you burn it.

Just comes down to personal preference. I do the Video_TS folder and then burn with roxio because I don't have nero and dvd decrypter has never burnt an ISO image for me (just doesn't work).

In DVD SHRINK you can set to save as a ISO IMAGE then burn with DECRYPTER. Look in the preferences tab. I like creating a ISO image then using DECRYPTER to burn. No problems at all. I open up DECRYPTER after the ISO IMAGE is created by DVD SHRINK.

I like to use DVDShrink to create an ISO image first and then use Daemon Tools to mount and play the image with PowerDVD,just to check that the movie is OK.Then I burn with DVDDecrypter or IMGBurn.

Let's get one thing straight - DVDShrink itself does not burn. It interacts with either Nero, DVDDecrypter or CopyToDVD and passes its information to one of those three programs to burn.

Nero or DVDDecrypter (or almost any other burning softwares) can burn ISO images for you, or you can hook up DVDDecrypter to burn automatically when the shrinking process is complete.

No, you don't. A VIDEO_TS folder is ready to burn - you just need to use burning software. The only reason you'd need to use authoring software is if you're reauthoring DVDShrink's output. See https://www.videohelp.com/guides#3;25 .

You can load ISO's into Shrink too, just do a import disc image. You'd be better off just burning it with ImgBurn or DVDD though.

First you need to "mount" an ISO Image with Daemon Tools (or similar) which creates virtual CD/DVD Drives on your PC then play with a DVD Player

I have found this a much more reliable way of burning a DVD because you just choose a disc to disc copy.
