I don't know what to do anymore, my pc just can't play any video file. When i open one with any player, the cpu goes to 100% and the only thing i can do is reset the pc.
I can run any games without problems, bf2 or oblivion run just fine.

I tried clean installed nvidia driver, reinstalled nforce driver for my mobo. I tried codec cleaner utilities and i even bought a new video card cuz i was getting really mad

One thing i noticed tho is that my card is AGP (7600gs) but if i go into device manager and look at properties on my video card, under location it says PCI bus1, device 0, function 0.

I tought that might be my problem but reinstalling nforce chipset driver didn't change anything, still says PCI bus 1.

    Thanks

Try play with VLC Media Player, it has it own builtin codecs. If it works you have some codecs problems...if not...then I don't know.

  3. Have you recently installed a codec package eg the K-Lite Codec Pack because this can seriously mess things up?

Baldrick dude, you're my new best friend !!!
    VLC works !!

Now doesn anyone know a way to remove all those codecs i've been installing? Most of them aren't in add/remove list.

  5. They mostly reside in System32,you could try to manually delete them.

Use AVICodec and click on the "Codecs & Filters" tab.It lists what codecs are installed on your system and the location of the files (System32) you can then find them and delete them manually or disable them with a right click of the mouse.

You can also use Codec Sniper to remove unwanted codecs. But be careful not to remove the default system codecs.
