hi,
My videos in DV AVI format look just fine, but when i convert to MPEG2 DVD they become very shakey and look as if I was shaking my camera all over the place. Very jerky. Also the shaking seems to make the vid lose quality and get blurry.
I know its got something to do with the frames, I have tryed top and botom field order, it deosn't seem to matter. I've tryed a few different programs to convert as well Ulead DVD Movie Factory, TMPGEnc and I downloaded a few other programs as well, i get the same effect every time.
I am using a pinhole lense which I believe is causing this to happen becuase it never used to do this, but the DVs look fine so I'm hoping there is a way to fix this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

If the DV looks fine, it's not your pinhole lens. Offhand, it sounds like you need more bitrate.

Did you try encoding the transferred DV with Ulead DVD Movie Factory and creating the DVD there?

All i can say is the Dv will look ok, then when I make MPEG2s itlooks like the cam is shaking alot more, like it was 2 different videos all together

When the movies are interlaced they look ok, but once I encode them to MPEG2 thats when the shake happens
I've also captured using WinDv as well, same story. -
If it looks OK after transfer and before encoding then it would seem to point to your encoder settings. If you could post a representative frame capture we would recognize the issue. "Shakey" and "two pictures" usually points to field order as said.
