I recently captured some TV shows in MPEG-2 format at "DVD Quality" (740x480) on my AIW 2006 Edition, and I noticed that the video was lagging behind the audio during playback. However, when I set the resolution down to 702x480 the problem disappears.
There is no lag or any other sound problems during the actual broadcast.
Why would there be a sync problem in one resolution and not in another?
I could see a possible resource issue, but I should think my Athlon 64 3500 with 512MB PC3200 would be able to handle it; the video RAM on the AIW is 256.
Thanks!

I think ATI AIW cards have a native resolution 704x480. Since this resolution is a valid for for DVD you could just continue using it with no problems.
I have a AIW 8500DV but I'm using ATI Multimedia Center 9.08.
Check lordsmurf's digitalFAQ.com web site for great tips on Video capture using AIW cards. -
Well, now that I've made several changes the problem has disappeared. What I think was actually causing it was the coexistence of onboard sound and my audigy 4 card--after disabling onboard sound I haven't had any synch issues at any resolution.
