    Hi all,

    the problem is simple :

I remove dvd X from the drive and put dvd Y in it. The drive spins and I see my comp accessing the directory but when I go through windows explorer and look inside dvd Y I still see the files from dvd X.

If I reboot , then I see the files on dvd Y.

Anybody get an idea why this is happening. I tried removing my drive through the device manager and reinstalling it but it still does it. Also I upgraded my firmware but got the same results.

I know my drive is working because it can play any movies and access any files once I rebooted my system.

So would this be a problem with my drive or XP?

    Thanks for your input

ps : my drive is a HP 300n

Here's a post from CD Freaks that seems similar:

You can find more by doing a Google search for 'explorer not refreshing with DVD change'

Sounds like you have another program running that is interfering with the auto refresh of explorer.

I sometimes have to click on the My Computer icon (in Explorer, not on your Desktop), then hit refresh to get a proper display.

It's something about the system not seeing the "Drive Opened" signal and automatically refreshing the drive. It happens to me in both XP and 2000Pro.

Well after googling it (thanks redwudz for the best phrase possible) I came up with a few answers and it seems that a few programs were interfering with my drive.

Removing them and looking in ms-config and removing a few startup program solved the issue

    Thanks all
