What format do you guys use in Premiere Pro 1.5? Avi works great but are really big files and WMV does not work well with PPro at all. Should i got to quicktime or somthing? Divx is great it make files small and still good quality but PPro does not even let my import divx.

DV avi is what it is really designed for, and works best with. It can also work with other codecs, but some make it unstable, some don't preview smoothly, some don't cut to the frame - in short, most incur some compromise. The audience that Premiere is written for would only ever use Divx at the very end of the process, not for storage, but only for final delivery.

Or, just download a free copy of Windows Move Maker 2 from Microsoft, and you can edit your WMV file with it.

Curious why you purchased Premiere Pro to edit wmv?

Typical Premiere Pro project formats are:

    1. DV
    2. Uncompressed YUV
    3. Uncompressed YUV using SDI I/O hardware
    4. HDV Cineform
    5. Other, including Mainconcept MPeg2 editor plug-in

I would argue this. It was really made for uncompressed AVI, and decent support of lesser-compressed AVI codecs. Basically any "working format" and that excludes MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (WMV, QT, XVID, DVIX), etc.

It can work with higher compression formats, but not reliably and at a loss of speed.
