Hello, I'm a newbie here, but after some searching I cannot seem to find a thread that would answer my problem.

I have a DVD+RW disc with some footage recorded off the tv on it.

I'm attempting to use this footage to edit in Final Cut.

On the recommmendation of a friend (and from what I see hear it's a well regarded piece of software) I downloaded MPEG Streamclip.

I duly upgraded the mpeg components for my mac and as far as I can see I've got all the necessary spec and software for this programme to run.

When I opened MPEG SC it told me for a while afterwards that the mpeg components were missing. It's since stopped warning me of this after I deleted it and reinstalled it again.

The problem is - when I try to convert .VOB files (either single files or the whole set) from this disc, it ticks away for a few seconds and then brings up only the scroll/control bar in the centre of the window without any video.

Is there some setting on my mac I need to change? Is there some problem with the files I'm trying to convert (or the media they're on)? And most importantly - is there a way round it?

This footage is pretty essential to a course I'm undertaking and I won't be able to record it again as it is news footage from a certain date.

Many thanks and prefuse apologies if the answer to my question lies somewhere already in this forum!

Phil
