  1. I've been capturing TV programs in DVD compliant MPEG2 format. Whats the easist way for me to burn the resultant MPEG2 file to a DVD? I don't need any menus. I just want to stick the DVD in and see it start playing. Is there an easy way to do this without having to recode things?

    Thanks.

Try TMPGENC DVD Author. You can add your clips, then set it to 'no menu'. It also has an optional plug-in you can buy to have it encode your audio to Dolby Digital, or if it's already DD it won't change it.

Definitely TDA as Forum Troll suggested. Just ignore the warning that comes up as that is NOT displayed on final authoring of project.

DVD Shrink....... Analyse the DVD then Click Re-Author. Grab the Main Title and drag it to the Left area then hit Backup. DONE.

You forgot to include the AUTHORING stage of his CAPTURED MPEG-2 file
    If in doubt, Google it.

Forget all of that crap. Get a DVD player that can play simple things (Philips DVP-642, Apex) and use Nero to burn a data DVD. Fastest, no authoring, no other processing.

  8. That TMPEG software looks fairly easy to use but I was hoping for some type of freeware or open source software. Ifoedit and muxman seem a bit complicated.

For IFOEdit try https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=251085 from step 2 onwards.

TMPGEnc DVD Author is free and fully functional for 30 days, and well worth the $$$ IMO.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Sony DVDA has an option to author and burn a single movie DVD. DVDShrink is good to author DVDs this way (single movie) but I guess you have to convert those MPEG2s to VOBs first.

Right... and never be able to give the DVD to friends or play it at a friends house.

Then he should get a simple standalone DVD recorder - Signal in / DVD out!
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
