  1. Maybe someone can help:
I have a divx-file and I have the fitting subtitles in idx/sub format. Is there an (easy?) way to watch the movie on a standalone dvdplayer with the subtitles.

For .divx files you should use xsubs. You need to OCR your vobsub's, then you can convert to xsubs and mux.

Some players support external vobsubs. Probably safer to use with avi files. In such a case just name the idx,sub and avi the same and burn to disc. Support for most players is somewhat limited though so if you want external subs, I would suggest OCR'ing to srt.

I converted the idx/sub file to srt, named it like the avi and burned it.--> not working!
Could u tell me which programs do I have to use to OCR (is that already done by creating a srt file?), to convert to xsubs and to mux.
    Thank you

Well I don't know of any other way to convert from bitmap subtitles to text, so presumably you already did it.

You can create xsubs from the srt's using srt2bmp/fuse.

Really though most MPEG4/avi standalones do support external srt's. What player is it?
