I have always used dvd decryter followed by dvd shrink but when backing up on one of my discs I was getting an error so decided to try DVDfab decrypter.

How do I then use dvd shrink afterwards as shrink did not seem to recognise the type of files saved. Usually using dvd decryter I save using the file system but fab decrypter saves it differently and I kept getting an error message when I tried to shrink it.

Sorry if this does not make sense but I have tried to explain as best I can.

DVD Fab Decrypter and DVD Decrypter perform the same task with the same end result. They rip the files from the disc and put them onto your hard drive in an unencrypted format. The file format is identical in both programs and if you look closely it's the same file format on the disc you ripped.

I'm sorry but it was not as easy as that. When using dvd decrypter it saves as lots of smaller files whereas dvdfab decrypter save as an audio and video file.

I have used dvd decrypter loads of times followed by dvd shrink but dvdfab decrypter is definately a different method.

DVDDecryoter in File Mode is exactly the same as DVDFab Decrypter. As far as I've seen (and I have the latest version), there's no stream mode (extract audio and video) in DFD.

I really don't know where I am going wrong then. Not only were the saved files definately different but DVD Shrink was also unable to recognise the files.

Unfortunately I can't provide the exact error messages as I gave up after trying a few times and I was not able to post on here for 48hrs after registering.

If I come across this again I will be more precise.

    ejnallstars,
When you use DVDFabDecrypter to rip a DVD it generates an extra Folder called DVD under the the main folder (Movie Name as an example) under which you find the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. When using DVD Shrink navigate to the "DVD" folder with Open Files. That should work. If you only navigate to the highest level folder (Movie Name) you will get an error message. The VIDEO_TS folders under DVD Decrypter and DVDFabDecrypter should be identical for a rip using each program.

    Thanks Steve

This sounds right. It did create a dvd folder. To be honest I thought I had tried that (as well as every other folder I could find ) but if that is how it is done I guess I couldn't have.

Next time I will use DVDFab Decrypter to test this out. Thanks again.
