  1. For the most part I praise the DVD Author they created. I think it is a terrific product. I bought it last year, and I am quite happy with it. I was looking forward to buying the new Pro Version. But any emails asking about the product don't get responded to. I can't see any way of buying it, by going to their website unless one goes to one of the Online Stores. Last years, I corrosponded with Oliver Graves, and he gave me instructions on how to send a US Money Order to California to buy DVD Author 1.6

I don't understand why I can't purchase it this time. I downloaded the trial version of the Pro Version, and saw a reference to the Legacy Program where you save $40.00 if you get the downloadable Version from them. I don't understand how to purchase it though.

Could someone please enlighten me, on how I can purchase this new version? I feel like I am getting the cold shoulder, just because I am one of the few people who doesn't qualify for a credit card, and so alot of Internet Commerce is beyond me.

Well, maybe you could ask your Mommy if you could borrow her credit card.

    That's uncalled for.

I too would have to say Pegasys/Tsunami/TMPGEnc Inc has their head up their ass when it comes to their online fetish. Customers do not want products that are 100% Internet dependent. This company has really stepped over the line, requiring products be purchased online and connected at all times for the so-called validations. Totally unreasonable. A great number of people have video systems that are dedicated to video, lacking net connections and other stuff that only serves to get in the way of a productive system.

  4. Thankfully Tmpgenc DVD Author doesn't have to be validated beyond the initial setup. I bought the Mpeg Editor they created as well, and that did require periodic online validation. I just let it run out, I tried Womble Mpeg Wizard and believe it does a much better job of editing Mpeg2 files. Thankfully the people at Womble were nice to deal with; I sent a bank draft and was quite happy with the process of paying for it.

So it looks like just stick with DVD Author 1.6, and perhaps if a local retailer decides to pick up the retail of TmpgEnc DVD Author Pro, purchase it then. Too bad they couldn't make a deal with "The Source" aka Radio Shack, to sell their products. I bought Music Match Jukebox from RC and it worked great.

The more I think about it, I shouldn't have to bend over backwards to be a loyal custumor. Pegasys could bend a little bit, and be more accomodating. I am probably sounding pretty childish, no wonder that person told me to borrow Mom's Credit Card.

  6. Yeah it's like early morning there in Japan now. So the day is just getting started for them. It will be later tonight for us in the USA, when it gets released. Pegasys did ask our opinions about one thing, the name "tsunami". But they never answered the questions people left for them, about adding new features. They are giving people a cold shoulder. I am still trying to justify the cost of this so-called "Pro" edition.

I use v1.6, as it is the easiest Authoring software to use for DVD and it has a Dolby Certified plugin. No other software for same price, has this ability. I can have a DVD made quickly. I just wish Pegasys would listen to their customers, and fix some of those annoying problems and add a few more features that their customers want.

Dear users, please tell us your opinion!

The new version of DVD Author will be released under the new brand
name "TSUNAMI MPEG" (TSUNAMI MPEG DVD AUTHOR PRO).
We are worried that it may have a negative impact on our customers,
due to the TSUNAMI that occurred last year, in Sumatra and the South East Asia.

However TSUNAMI is also the original name of the free software
    TMPGEnc (TSUNAMI MPEG ENCODER).
TSUNAMI is a common word in Japan, because we often hear it in our everday life. But, in overseas, this name may directly be related to the
    disaster of last year.

So we would like to ask you:

    1) what is your opinion about this brand name?

    2) and what do you think would be the general opinion, or the opinion of a newbie who
doesn't know the origin name of TMPGEnc?

    Thank you for your cooperation.

As for the credit card issue, many stores, including Radioshack and 7-Eleven in my area, sell prepaid credit cards that are perfect for making purchases online. That might eliminate a lot of the hassle. I use them whenever making a credit card purchase from a "hokey looking" online seller.

I have finally managed to buy a copy.........but there are still a few bugs to work out. When you go to name your DVD before burning you get an error message, and some of the extra buttons have Japanese text.
