Recently ran into following problem w/DVP642:
Home Burned Discs received from Friend on Verbatim 16X DVD+R copied using DVD encrypter and recorded at 16X do not load.

3 out of 8 Discs work. Same discs do not load in:
JVC SG65, RJTECH RJ800DIVX but work just fine in Liteon LVW5005 recorder and Friend's CyberHome 300

Is there a connection btn recording speed or media used?

I copied the unloadable disc using Nero Express with Memorex writer and Officemax 8X DVD+R and the copied disc works in all 4 my DVD Players.

Try a reburn with DVD Decryptor with the book type set to DVD-ROM for +R discs and burn at a slower speed. No problems with Maxell or Fuji (Taiyo Yuden) discs when using this method...

Hello, Did it at 8X with DVD decrypter using Verbatim 16X DVD+R, same problem. Won't load in Philips 642 DIVX, RJ800DIVX & JVC65G. And friend's Hitachi (model unknown)

    Disc ID: MCC-004-00

I am putting Verbatim on my black list.

    Burn them at slower speed
The problem is with your writer most likely (or your PC), when it use too much burn-proof/link the discs are not burned as they should. Many people don't realize that, but they have their computers totally 'unset' up to the point that only 4x burn speed works reliable without extensive use of linking (burn-proofing) on a burn disc.
Watch the data flow in DVD-Decrypter's display when youre burning. Does it jump from 0% to 100% or is it steady always at almost full 100%? If it does jump up and down then your writer use burn-proofing. Thats how 'virtual coasters' are made (virtual because burning is succesful and complete, but disc doesn't play...)

No need to re-badge book type, this philips model have no problems with +R at all.

Also updating your writer's firmware often helps (firmware tells your writer what burn strategy it should use with each kind of disc).

Lastly you may be right, and it might be the case of bad batch of discs.
Burning the discs from same batch on a different brand/model writer would help you determine what is the reason of your v-coasters.

The problem is probably the media. I burn everything at 16x. I mainly use Ridata. I never have a problem. I rarely encounter a bad disk as well.
I can never understand why people refuse to see bad or unrecognizable disks as a media problem first.

because almost always the problem lies in writer's compatibility with given media first, then with abuse of burn proofing second (both of which can be fixed with slower burn speeds), and very lastly with bad media (when it comes to 'brand name' media ofcoz, as this is the case).
I can assure you that probably vast majority of people who are using 16x burn speed they shouldn't do it at all. It takes well set/prepared/adjusted system to burn at 16x without turning-on/using burn-proof most of the time :P

I can never understand why people always see media as a problem first, while most often it is not.
