  1. I'm using quicktime alternative 1.61 codec. Now up until today, my MOV files played just fine. Now all of the sudden out of nowhere, they only play with the screen flickering and garbage colors randomly all over the screen between every few frames. it looks horrid! I tried using my Canopus procoder to re-encode them (which also worked great before) and the finished re-encoded files have the same garbage on them. I tried re-installing the QT Alt codec and restarting my computer to no avail. Can somebody please help me? I have over 100 stock footages that need to be converted and I'll be screwed if I can't get them to start re-encoding right

Try a combination of , The FilmMachine , Yamb , Mp4box and haalia splitter to convert them to avi or other format .

If the jitter still persists , then it'll be with the tools that handle mov , and you'll need to uninstall all of them and reboot the pc , then you can reinstall them , again reboot the pc and see if its cured .

If not , there be an issue in the registry or a system file has been replaced or become corrupted .

My advice for people is to use a tool like nortons ghost to backup their pc to an image file so if its a real mess , you can restore the pc to a before state (backup files you want to keep first , like internet favs , ect)

Use a tool like installwatchpro , to see what installed programs get upto .
Regshot , take a snap of registry before , then another after app install .

handy for trouble shooting and registry cleaning / repair .

Update : look for a freeware program called "Super" , encodes mov to avi and mpeg .. a very quick on small size files , over 100mbs will take time .

Uninstall QuickTime alternative. Try using codec sniper to remove any mov codecs and find any other corrupt codecs. reboot, then reinstall QuickTime alternative.
