I'd like to know how to insert a black strip on the video so i can put a new subtitle over a previous existent (permanent) subtitle.
The video im going to encode has already 2!! permanent subtitles...so i need to give a cleaned to burn a new subtitle...My only idea was to put the traditional black strip under the new subtitle and over the old ones...but i don't know how... I tried the medusa but it was kind of amateur. Can anyone help me? THANKS!! :)

I would artificially "widescreen" the video with a matte. Adobe Premiere, Vegas, TMPGENC, any number of programs can do it. Do the new subs as DVD subs.

So...If i "widescreem" the video (it is on the process of encode? I use TMPGEnc...it is easy isn't it?) the old legends will be under the black part of the widescreen? But won't i lose to much image ?

And how can i do the sub as a DVD sub? Becouse the last time i tried to do that with ifoedit i burned a DVD without any subtitle.... after that i never tried again, but im realy interested in doing that

Hi, just an idea.(dont know if it will work)

cant you use the logo filter in virtualdub/mod to put a black strip over the 2 subs, and the subtitle filter to put the new sub on top of it?
I love it when a plan comes together!

You won't lose too much image.

TMPG is simple, use the CROP filter, and then select MASK on the bottom and add pixels as needed. There is a preview. Dummy proof.

Use authoring software that supports subs. I would use Subtitle Workshop in combination with DVDWS2. And then I'm done. Easy there too.
