  1. I have 2 Sony VAIO's. The older one captures the VHS tape a little clearer than the newer one. I've been over the settings and I can't remember the what adjustments I made to the older one. I have everything on the highest quality possible.

Can anybody think of some possible setting on the computer itself that I am overlooking?

In terms of clarity...it must be due to the capture card(s) you are using...what are you using?

Also, are you using the same source (like the same VCR) and types of cables?

  3. Are the two machines PRECISELY IDENTICAL, other than age, or is there some differenct between the two? As in a different model or revision of capture card? Not similar capture card and CPU speed, but the SAME capture card and CPU speed.

Are you using the PRECISELY IDENTICAL cables and connection on both machines when capture testing? Not similar cables and VCR, but the SAME cables and VCR.

Notice the repeat of that PRECISELY IDENTICAL??? If you wish to determine why and/or how the two PC's are different, the FIRST THING THAT MUST BE DONE is to determine what about them is the same so that these items can be eliminated as possible solutions.

Software difference would be just capture settings, (there are not too many of these) software revision number, then also codecs installed with capture or other software. Sony Giga Pocket very picky and proprietary.
