Team newbie here to Nero / DVD burning / Camcorders.

Anyway I have a camcorder and a Sony external burner w/ Nero software. I've got the video off my camcorder on my pc using Nero but how do I burn it on to a DVD?

I fooled with it for hours and can't get it onto a DVD.....................again I'm a dummy.

    It's maybe a year old so I'm thinking it's Nero 6.

    Thanks!

  2. If its dvd complinat files, then you just need to author then burn. Look under tools section for dvd authoring programs.
    Quality is my policy.

  3. Use NeroVision Express....it's not great but it's free if you have Nero 6.

I'm guessing Nero pulled your footage off into DV-AVI ???

Use GSpot on the file(s) Nero created.

    The basic rundown is this:

"Capture" (transfer) to hard drive into DV-AVI.

    Edit (if required).

    Convert to DVD-compliant MPEG-1 or MPEG-2.

    Author.

    Burn.

I use scenalyzerlive to capture, virtualdub to edit, TMPGEnc Plus to encode, TMPGEnc DVD Author to author, and Nero to burn.

It might be worth your while taking a look at some of the Ulead products, as I believe that there are a few that can do almost all of these steps from within the one program, so it should make it a bit easier for you while you're learning the craft. Once you understand what each step is doing, then you can branch out to some more specialised tools.

    Just some friendly advice:
Read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read ...... and read some more. Plenty of guides tot he left. Plenty of tools in the tools section. Pick a guide, download the tools for it, and go from there. If you don't like the guide, discard it. Try another guide. Ask questions about specific guides when you get stuck. Basically use a little trial and error (and the assistance of all and sundry here) until you find a method that is comfortably within your knowledge level and also gives you the results you desire.
    If in doubt, Google it.
