oh, no!!! its me again!!! time for a few semi-dumb questions (<--maybe):

    1) i seem to remember there was a way to create a dummy avi so that you could feed a non-supported video file to an app that only accepts avi as input, but for the life of me i can't seem to remember the name of the utility. was it virtual dub? is there any app that will allow for the creation of a dummy avi file from any video file, for instance a 1080p vc-1? or a 1080p h264?

    2) i recently ran across this app:

    http://www.bestshareware.net/download/enhancemovie-personal.htm

which i absolutely love, it's a piece of cake to use and i am very impressed with the results, i have some older vob's that i have been able to clean up and enhance way more than i thought possible, especially with an app that you can just chimp your way through. only problem is that it's input support is limited to avi, mpeg and non-vc-1 wmv and i'm dying to experiment with this app by running some high quality hi def sources through it and seeing the results.

    3) anyone know of any "super resolution" software, i.e. software that supposed to take in standard rez input and upconvert it? basically i wanted to experiment and see what you happen if i fed it a 720p source, chose the uprez options but set the output resolution to 720p, would the results be a sharper, cleaner video?

note: enhance movie doesn't accept avs as input, so that option is out the window.

    thanks.

VideoEnhancer is probably the cheapest of the "SuperResolution" options.

  3. makeavis, avs2avi, vfapi, avisynth virtual file system (avfs) => these make a dummy avi from an avs script

another option would be to encode a lossless AVI e.g. lagarith, huffyuv, UT etc... or even uncompressed
