  1. Hello everyone i'm having troubles, i had an .avi I converted it with DivXToDVD to VOB then I use InterVideo WinDVD to burn the VOB To a DVD the problem is when I play the moovie the audio doesn't match up with the video, you know it looks like they are speaking chinese or somthing. But the .avi file works fine. Any idea's? IS there any other software that will convert .avi to VOB files and is there any other software that will burn VOB files to DVD so i can watch them on a stand alone DVD Player? Thanks!

    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. thanks but do you know which software is screwing up the audio? do you think its the converting from .avi to vob or the burning of the vob files? What i don't get is, it doesn't always do this, somtimes the audio and video are right on.

It's gotta be the converting, as burning is just burning and doesn't touch the video or audio streams.

Lesson No 1 is to load your AVIs into GSpot and see what type of audio you're dealing with for the files that exhibit this behaviour. If you say VBR MP3 then I won't be very surprised at all. It probably wouldn't hurt to do this for a few that have worked also, so you can see what things DivXToDVD handles well and which things it can't handle.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. its very odd....
All my .avi's say, "0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3" and yet some will work and others wont.

What you'll find is that some have what I would call "uniform" bitrates (ie. 96, 128, 160, 192, 224 etc etc) - these are normally CBR while others have odd values like 131, 157 etc etc. Generally those with odd values are VBR and that values is the average bitrate. I'm pretty sure that one of the GSpot versions tells you if it's CBR or VBR though.
    If in doubt, Google it.

You used DivxtoDVD to create vobs - DivxtoDVD creates a full DVD structure, ready to burn. If you didn't get that, then something screwed up during the conversion process.

If you did get a full dvd structure, try playing back from the HDD. Is the audio in sync ? If not, VBR MP3 is your problem.

If it is in sync then something that windvd did to it is likely the cause.

  8. if you are in fact dealing with VBR audio, best bet is to open the file in virtualdub and save the audio part alone as .wav...........that will at least get ya a useable source, then do your encoding as per normal, but use the wav file for the audio source....

  9. Thanks for the responces guys...
It says-> 128 kb/s (64/ch, stereo) CBR so its not VBR audio. guns1inger, I realize that Dvdtodvd will create a full dvd structure and it will actually ask you if u want to burn it right afterwards with their software, the problem is, everytime I use their software to burn the vob files they won't play at all, not even in my computer. So thats why I have to use windvd to burn the vob files divxtodvd creates. I did go into the vob files and play a segment before I burned it with windvd and yes the audio was still screwed up, but not as much, infact at the beginning of the moovie you can't tell at all the audio is messed up, i seeked to the milddle and then you can start telling its screwed up. So if its a CBR why is it still screwing up?
