I think I have the right forum for this question, if not I presume the moderator(s) will review, and, repost to the right one.

I have Nero, updated to 6.6.XX (whatever the recent updates have labled it.)
But I've had troubles with NeroVisionExpress, sometimes it will accept, convert to DVD, then burn .avi files, other times it won't. I've gone around with Nero Tech Support, the last message I got from them was that it wasn't Nero, but the files that I am trying to convert. But the problem with .avi files has seemingly happened with all types of encoded .avi files from xvid to dvix, and in between. Also, isn't NeroVisionExpress supposed to be able to take nearly any type of video file, convert, then burn to DVD? Because I've had mpeg1 files (converted by TMPGEncoder,) but NVE will read them, apparently load them in to its program, but them it just sits there, the total progress clock runs, but the other clock, and, the progress bars, don't move. Has anybody else run into this problem, or, know what to do about this?

Try some other all-in-one tool like DivXtoDVD.

I had the same problem. NVE would accept the AVI, but then crash when it was converting. Once in a blue moon, it would actually complete. But I could not get it to accept MPEG2 files that I created with a trial run of TMPGenc.
I gave up on it, and now use TMPG Express and TDA. No problems now.
I use Nero only for burning now and use its player to watch DVDs on my computer.

Xactly. That's what it's any good for. Nothing else.
