Hello. I would like to request the following information. I would like to author a SVCD that includes CD Audio Tracks so that both (SVCD and Audio Tracks) can be played on ANY standard DVD Player or just to listen to the CD Audio Tracks only on ANY Standard CD Player.

I have a video clip that I have ripped from a DVD and now I want to burn it to a CD-R in SVCD and add two cd audio tracks.

I know I must encode the Video Clip which is in AVI format into MPEG-2. The features of this AVI video clip is 170 MB (size) MP3 (320 kb bit rate - the sound track) and 640x480 (screen size).

I also would like to ask you how I will be able to encode the AVI format into MPEG-2 (I guess this is the format for SVCD) using TGMPEnc for it is confusing for me how to separate/rip the audio track from the AVI video clip in order to encode the AVI video clip into MPEG-2.

When encoding, the TGMPEnc requests the Video Source (the AVI Movie/Video Clip) but when it comes to Audio Source, I do not know what to select for the Audio is included/inserted in the AVI Movie/Video Clip. Should I also select the AVI movie/video clip when it comes to select audio source?.

Thank you so much for all this. I know that my questions have been answered a thousand times.

    Yours,

You will have to use the Philips VideoCD Toolkit to make a combination SVCD/CD audio disc. I have never done this, so I can't offer any suggestions on how to do it.

You will need to demux your AVI into separate audio and video files. I don't work with AVI files much, but I think Virtual Dub can demux them. You will need to convert the video and audio to valid formats for SVCD.

There are no guarantees that what you make will work in ANY DVD player. Many DVD players, especially older ones, don't play SVCD at all, although most newer players should be able to play it.

1st, as per the SVCD spec, additional AudioCD (aka Redbook) tracks aren't allowed. You could make one with the previously mentioned Fireburner/CUE-BIN editing trick, but it won't be an SVCD-compliant disc.

As compatibility is mediocre for SVCD's anyway, why make it worse?

2nd, if you've already got a DVD, don't go "DVD MPEG2 --> AVI --> SVCD MPEG2", go "DVD MPEG2 --> SVCD MPEG2" and save time and improve quality (rather keep from drastically losing quality). There are a number of guides to do so here.

edit: You must have been thinking of VCD, not SVCD.
