The first time I bought this kind of media and I have simple question. Which DVD-authoring program can burn on double-layered disks? For simple DVD-medias I use TMPGEnc DVD Autor v1.5. Will it work also with DLs? Or should I take some another program? I don't want to simply to try, because this media is rather expansive and the program shows me only 4.7G of media by default. Should I simply ignore this and force it to burn ax much as it is?

TMPGENC DVD Author accepts Dual Layers.
Like you said, it ony shows 4.7gb of media by default .
Open it, click on option, Environmental setting,
and search for Double Layer 8.5 DVD media.
That's it. :O!.

Most authoring programs should support dual layer. I know DVD-lab does, and I believe the Ulead products do as well.
