  1. i got a advermedia ezmaker pro pci card . im using windvr 3 to capture music videos from my cablebox. i used dvdauthor to edit the video and then dvdshrink(no compression)to burn it to a dvd. the quality wasnt bad but i would like it to be better .
i have the display settings set to 16:9 (is this a mistake?).
    device , standard NTSC_M ( what is NTSC_M_J ? )
record quality is set to NTSC DVD.

can i get some advise on how to get better quality?

    These are for IRE settings.

    ** NTSC_M_J = 0.0 IRE
    ** NTSC_M = 7.5 IRE

NTSC_M is usually the default, though I've never seen it any other value
as a default. _M seems to always be the default.

Capture AVI only. This is not a great card.
    Use VirtualDub.

    Use VirtualDub.
Capture NTSC at 704x480 using AVI and a codec like HuffyUV or PicVideo MJPEG (use the 19 or 20 setting).

Then convert to MPEG-2 DVD spec using a software MPEG encoder like TMPGEnc or CCE etc.

Capture programs to use (in no order):

    VirtualVCR
    iuVCR
    TheFlyDS

    Good Luck

Notice how VirtualDub was not listed in the list of suggested capture programs?

The card you have does very nice quality.

    Try again.
