Check the avi with Gspot and make sure you have the codec installed.

  4. yes it is an avi file.......what codec do i need to have installed for avi file or to run.

  5. Post screen shot, sounds like prolly a h264 codec problem/not installed? Install latest ffdshow, I believe ffdshow 20050803 by celtic_druid supports that codec.

Avi files can be made of many different codecs, Gspot will test the avi and tell you what codec is required and if you have it installed....or just use the ffdshow as suggested.

Move "Directshow" to the top of the list, explained here: https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems

Or go into the VfW decoder config and enable whatever codec the avi uses, assuming of course that ffdshow supports decoding it.
