  1. Since vobsub is dropping some subtitles due to some bug, I've recently tried using ffdshow.

Just a comparison of ffdshow and vobsub, the color of the subtitles for vobsub is more detailed. For example, using the same color code for the subtitles, the color for vobsub is somewhat brighter compared to that of ffdshow.

one more thing, the width of the shadow for the subtitles in ffdshow is very small. I've adjusted all the possible options for the subtitle, but the shadow is still very small.

Does anyone know how can I make my subtitles more visible and make the shadow of the subtitles to appear bigger?

    have you tried latest vsfilter?

and remember that you can't change subtitle settings on sub/idx/ifo subtitles cause they are images.

I have tried using vsfilter, it is just the same with vobsub. It is also dropping subtitles.

    Go to Video Configuration, Subtitles.
There you will find several sliders. One of them should be for shadow.
I use quite an old version of FFDShow, but I think that newer version should have the same sliders. Experiment a bit and you should find your optimum.

I've done that, my configuration is set to the following configuration:
    1. Weight = Heavy
    2. Color = White
    3. Shadow Strength = 99
    4. Shadow Radius = 99

In my point of view, this is the setup that will allow the shadow to be most visible. If there is any other configuration that will make my subtitle more visible, please advice me because I'm not quite satisfied with the output result of this configuration.

I'm using the version from October 12 2004. It is still available for download if you want to try it. I don't know if it would make any difference when compared to the version that you use.
I have just tried your settings.
For the weight, I would not recommend to go over BOLD.
What I've got is superb fonts with very strong shadow. If I only could get such a shadow on a DVD subtitles!
Font is clear with extra strong shadow, clearly visible on any background video.
Maybe you would like to try BSplayer who has its own subtitle support for DivX files.
