  1. The file i am trying to convert has black bars at the bottom and top. Is there a way to remove them. When its converted the bars are still there?

    It sounds like the black bars are encoded as part of the video. It is possible to remove them, but there will be a quality hit in the process. What is your source format, what are you using to convert, and what are you converting to?

  3. Conveting from .avi to mpeg for a dvd. Using tgmpenc for video and goldwave for sound. Then encode dvd using dvd lab pro.

  4. I would just leave it as it is and make it dvd compliant, or become familiar with frameserving (Avisynth or any of the VirtualDubs). By the way dvd lab pro is an authoring tool
