if the the dvd is below 4.3 GB it is basicly just to burn the video_ts and audio_ts folders with nero in udf/iso mode and it should work.....I have tried it with a dvd+rw and it worked on my pioneer dv-444.

  3. I have tried to burn DVDs using smartripper and then Nero to burn it to DVD-R and every time
my player (Panasonic DVD-RV31) won't play it, the display says "NO PLAY" and an on screen
messages says the player can't play "this kind of disc". I don't understand my DVD-ROM drive
plays everything back fine, just like an real DVD movie. I made sure that in Nero I burned it as
a UDF/ISO, so what's the deal? All the home made DVDs I've made with my own camcorder
video work fine, I used Ulead DVD Moviefactory to make and burn those.
The only thing I can think of is that it might be a region code thing. I've noticed that all the home
made DVD's I burn are region 1,2,3,4,5,6,ALL and I've noticed that Smartripper likes to do
"region free", but even with this turned off my copies still won't play.
Do DVD players know that a disc is a DVD-R and not a pressed DVD and if so will it only play a
    DVD-R if its Multi/All regional?
I would help alot if anyone has any insight on this, TIA

  4. magius74, dvd player may not recognize DVD-R.

some dvd players recognize DVD-R, but not DVD+R.
other dvd players recognize DVD+R, but not DVD-R.

u may want to check your dvd player in the DVD players compatiblity list here:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php

it should tell u whether your dvd player supports DVD-R/+R
