  1. First of all i don't speak english very well. Thanks.
I want to make a films from original DV camera but i have some problems.

1- I try to preserve interlace when I encode to Divx6 from original DV but pictures isn't good always you can see the lines of interlace and i have a powerdvd and ffdshow.

2- I try to de-interlace when I encode to Divx6 from original DV. This is a better image than 1 but the problem is that the reproduction makes a little tremble (strong trembles when you see the buildings) all time when you are seeing the film.

I push in my page two films for more comfortable than limitated size in forums. Film1 is make with preserve interlace and Film2 is make with de-interlace source with commented problems.
I push the image settings to encode.

Anybody can helps me to say a good solution? I read in a lot of sites and maybe better de-interlace but i don't like this trembles.

Note: Original film is captured with Pinnacle Studio 9 at 16:9. Is interlace film and i can see correctly and without trembles in my powerDVD.

Note: The two films are pices of another original film more large. I only resize when i'm configuring the settings of Divx6. You can see a pictures in my page

Really i don't understand what happen this problems.

    Thanks for all

  2. The problem with the first video is that you've resized the video from 576 lines tall to 400 lines tall with a filter that didn't take the interlace into account. The two fields are no longer intact.

The second video has been deinterlaced leaving you with 25 frames per second. The video is a little jerky because 25 frames per second is not enough to give smooth motions. In addition, there is no perfect way to create 25 full frames from 50 fields so you will always end up with some fickering artifacts.

I wasn't using Divx at all prior to reading your message, I've been using Xvid instead. So I downloaded Divx 6 and ran a few tests. I suspect you're using the codec's 16:9 setting on the Video panel. Their resizing of 16:9 interlaced video doesn't appear to work correctly. I used a 720x480 NTSC video and I had to set "resize width" to 872 to get a 480 line tall interlaced image. You'll have to experiment with the setting to find a value that will give you a 576 pixel frame height.

Even if you get it to encode properly, it may not be a good idea to use interlaced Divx. You will have a hard time finding players that handle interlaced Divx properly. Even after encoding my test video to 16:9, interlaced, at 872x480, the Divx 6 player did not deinterlace on playback. I thought it might do a bob-deinterlace but you can still see comb lines on the computer screen.

Xvid's handling of 16:9 content is much better. You can leave your frame size at 720x480 (720x576 in your case) and specify that the video should be played back with a 16:9 picture aspect ratio -- the same way that movie DVDs work. You still might not find a player that deinterlaces at playback but at least the video will be properly encoded.
