Ok, I'm thinking I'm being bit by my "newbie-ness" at using DVD Architect 3... but I'm not certain.
Here's what I have:
Captured a VHS tape through my Canon Optura 20 digicam via firewire and the passthru mode to an AVI file. Checked that everything plays back like a champ as AVI. I then used Vegas Video to import that and render it as MPEG-2. Again, the resulting file was completely in sync. I then imported that into DVD Arch and added a base menu and a scene selection menu. I then hit "make dvd" (or whatever it's called). It did whatever the "Prepare DVD" thing is. I think I pretty much left everything at defaults for a 720X480 ntsc output. It wanted to compress my audio to AC-3 and that's fine. Video bitrate was untouched as the total file was only like 2.7GB. When the DVD finished burning, I played the VOB file back in WMP10, the audio sync was horribly off from the get-go. I didn't even bother trying the DVD in any other player, since it was out of sync on the computer. Anyway.. can someone give me a little verbal headsmack and tell me what I did wrong? I have about 10 moreof these discs to make before I get started on converting video of my 2 year old daughter to DVD and I'd just as soon be a "pro" by the time I start on that stuff.
Thanks for the help and I'm glad to be here!
Just as an addendum.... when I used "Preview" in DVD Arch, everything looked and sounded great. I just checked the output of the "Prepare" step and it too has the sync issue... so it's clearly a DVD Architect thing when making the master to be burned to disc.
Also, after checking the burned disc, other than the sync issue, there is lots of stuttering and freezing and general macroblocking stuff going on starting at about halfway through the disc. I burned the disc at 8x using my Plextor PX-708A DVD burner with the latest firmware onto TDK DVD+R discs. Now, the discs are 4x.. but I seem to recall having done this before when burning DATA and having no issues.
So many issues... and I'm sure it's something silly (like the user) that's causing the problem.

Thanks. I snagged the program and ran it on the MPG file I had rendered with Vegas just before I left for work this morning. Despite some weird error messages about the "Status Bar Being Out oF Range" while running the GUI version of ffmpeg, it did eventually churn out an AC3 file. I'll see what happens tonight when I try to import it into DVDA tonight.
Thanks,

Buddyboy,
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
I wish I understood what the difference was between using DVDA to render the audio to AC-3 vs. using that standalone program, but whatever it is, that was the key to getting a synched up audio and video stream rendered to disc for burning to DVD. I also switched the speed back to 4x on my burner and VOILA... a perfect burn!!!
THANKS AGAIN!
