I have just learned that Pioneer has discontinued the 109. The newest drive is the 110. Does anyone know anything about the 110?

I just checked at CD Freaks, nothing on it yet. Just some hype.

  4. It's not too far away, at least in Australia. They are already advertising and speedlabs has a sample for testing:

Still a few bugs in the system...

The 109 has been the new burner for 7 months now. After 6-12 months, new burners tend to come out.

Dam! my cd burner just packed it, so I have no working optical drives at all, so I'll just have to go out and buy a 109.

And the 110 will read DVD-RAM.

    The 109 reads RAM too.

I really see no need in the 110. It does faster DL but that's about it. Hell, we don't even have DVD-R DL widely available and DVD+R DL is just no starting to get more saturation and be more affordable.

Perhaps there isn't that much difference between the 109 and 110.

I brought the 109 yesterday and there were 2 additional pieces of paper. The first one basically said that the writer had x6-DL. The second one talked about a pending firware upgrade to provide an unspecified speed of -DL and 8X+RW.
