Hi there, which format do you prefer and why? I use MP2 using besweet for MP2 no problem, but for some reason when i use besweet for WAV or AC3 its not setting the output sampling rate to 48. Anyways which format is best to use, which was has advantages and disadvantages?

    Thanks for any info!

PS... these audio formats would be for a DVD MPEG2 output.

I prefer wav. To me, it sounds better and I don't care about the amout of space it takes.

Of those on offer, AC3, but then I use a licensed mutli-channel AC3 encoder (Sony) to quality and compatability are very high.

If I've got room, which is invariably the case, I use WAV - because I don't need to spend time encoding it, and it's universally compatible (I use ffmpeggui for AC3 and / or MP2).

thanks for replying, i'll give ffmpeggui a try tomorrow, i like mp2 as the file is small thus more bitrate for the video. I like AC3 also, but only when i watch movies downstairs (amplifier surround speakers), i cant watch on the normal TV as you have to blast the sound up to hear everyone talk and when music/background sound comes on it goes extremely loud.

    thanks

I voted MP2, but lately I've been leaning towards AC3 since I got my surround sound package. I use a custom home-made GUI for ffmpeg that enables batch encoding.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've heard rumours about such a useful app, but heard it's a bit buggy still...

<grin> Well, I guess that depends on the user.

The developer NEVER has any problems using it
    If in doubt, Google it.

yeh! ffmpeg is very good and easy. But there's no option to change the framerate (ntsc to pal), i have to use virtualdub to extract the original audio, then besweet to convert the frame right and then use ffmpeg, is this the correct way of doing it... please someone correct me if i am wrong.

    Thanks for the replies
