  1. hello
I've been backing up a few movies using dvd shrink and Nero 6
But I'm not sure I'm using Nero properly. An old guide I was following tells me to choose DVD ROM (UDF/ISO) when selecting the type I'm going to burn. But A guide on this site says select DVD-VIDEO.
I'm a bit confused now, do you think I've ruined some backups?

Which should I use? I'm not sure if this makes any difference but sometimes I need to do stuff like use a still picture to replace extras which brings the file sizes down.

    Thanks for helping

    Bletch.

I use Nero 6.3.1.17 with no problems. I let Shrink do the Nero setup and burning, and does it automatically, so there's nothing to choose.

Use DVDDecryter to burn if you are concerned about better compatibility.

When I use Nero directly, I use the DVD Video format. I Just drop all the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder in and burn. Never had any burn failures or incompatibility with my players.

I'd suggest trying http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/NeroExpress.htm - it doesn't get much easier than that
    If in doubt, Google it.

If you're using DVDSHrink to compress your DVD's, why not just set the option in DVDSHrink to use DVD Decrypter as the burning engine and then you don't have to do any more manual work

Once its been shrunk by DVD Shrink, it will automatically load up DVD Decrypter and start burning your DVD for you without you having to do anything

When you select backup, simply choose the backup target as ISO Image file and burn with DVD DEcrypter

As long as you have installed DVD Decrypter then you have no need to worry about using Nero, besides MY personal preference is to avoid using Nero for DVD video discs I had far too many problems with skipping and stuttering so changed to using DVD Decrypter as the burning engine, all my problems disapperaed and it wasn't the media I tested that

  5. Hey guys
I did as you recommended and downloaded & used DvdDecryper - setting Shrink up to make it use Decrypter to burn, Quick and painless!

Just made a backup and went into all the extras etc.. seems to work fine

There's still loads of options to tick in Decryter's settings section, shall I just leave them as is?

    Thanks!

Yes(unless you want the tray to eject),most options are for ripping.
I gave up on Nero long ago and I only use RecordNow or DVDDecrypter.
