Hello I want to burn a DVD of family video's for relatives in the USA, I use Pinnacle's Studio 9, Do I need to select the correct region for the USA and do I have to burn it in NTSC format.

Canada and USA are region 1 NTSC.
You can burn it with a copy program it is usually region free (DVD clone etc) but it has to be ntsc format.
Pal secan will not work on most dvd players unless the recipent has a universal player usually purchased from the orient. a dvd player that plays both formats.They sell for around $50 to $70
Many computers will play pal secan
