  1. Hi all,

I'm trying to convert some .avi files to DVD using DVDSanta (version 3.45). The conversion process works fine, because I can view the entire video on my PC with PowerDVD no problem. During the burn process, however, DVDSanta stops at a certain percentage and doesn't go any further.

It's not always the same percentage (one video stops at 92%, one at 17%) and it doesn't always fail (some videos work fine, others freeze during the burn). I'm using a Pioneer DVR-109 drive with the latest firmware, so if anyone can help me figure it out I'd be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.

Also, I've got a Video_TS folder which was created by DVDSanta and includes two titles (one for the first .avi file converted, one for the second .avi file). When I try to burn it using Nero I get a global positioning error, when I use a different program such as TMPGEnc it only burns the first title. How do I get a burning program to burn both titles on one disc, therefore creating a whole movie?

Thanks in advance for your help...

    Possibly bad media ?

Just FWIW, I don't trust DVDSanta as far as I can kick it, as my experimentation with it some time ago led me to believe it's encoding/authoring was utter crap, mainly due to a lack of customisation/options. I certainly wouldn't trust it's burning engine.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Well I've used it for slide shows due to the ability to add a lot of pictures to the Slideshow. I have also used it to convert a problematic AVI where it was the only program that converted the whole file and kept audio/video sync. Some wouldn't even do the audio...

I have even burned with it to a Pioneer 109. However my experience is with version 4.0 so it could be much improved over your version. Why not D/l their trial version and see?

OTOH I agree with jimmalenko that it has no real control over options. And if fed two files it will make a 2 title movie.

So I use for certain things and do most of my encoding with TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress AC3 plug-in , some with TMPGEnc Plus, some with CCE Basic. I also tried out Mainconcept 1.4 and it handled VBR MP3 audio the best but the price is too high and no AC3 built in.

It could be your drive is to new to work with your version? Burn with something else? Maybe make an ISO and then use DVDDecrypter?

    Good Luck
