I have an interesting error here. Its not urgent just curious. I ripped a deleted scene off of a dvd and tried to convert it to divx with virtualdubmpeg2. Then it came out clear but the audio was ahead by about a second or so. Here is the error:
[!] MPEG: Anachronistic or discontinuous timestamp found in audio stream 29 at
byte position 10401810, from 1393644 to 1476762. This may indicate an
improper join.
What does that mean?
The first time I got it I used dvdshrink to cut out the segment of the clip I wanted and attributed it to that. But then I tried again by using the entire 4 minute vob and still got this error.
I know I can skew the audio to match up to the video but I don't know exactly how much its off.
Suggestions??

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

As I say in step 3 of my guide ( https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=223342 ), I have received this error on occasion with virtualdub-MPEG2 but it has never affected the output one bit. I think it's just something to do with ripping a particular chapter or title means that the timestamp within the VOB(s) is/are sometimes out of whack of where they should be "normally", or where virtualdub-MPEG2 expects them to be. Just continue on, check your output and I'm pretty confident everything will still be in synch.
If in doubt, Google it. -
I'll try it again tonight. thanks jimmy
Is there a way to tell the exact offsynch of audio for correcting?? I mean its a short clip so I can easily do trial and error but if there was a way to calculate the offset I would like to know. Thanks.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -

If you use Virtualdub-MPEG2 and under File/File information it will show the audio skew in + or - ms.
