  1. I am currently running:

    athlon xp 2500+
    512DDR333
    geforce ti4200
    sound blaster live!

When i try to encode my video after editing in vegas 4.0 (encoded as dvd ntsc mpg) the audio and video are out of sync for the last 2-3 minutes of a 27min clip. Is this becuase of my computer specs or is it because of some other reason?

    Hi Buddyboy,

I'd say your computer specs are OK. Maybe you could do with more memory, but I very much doubt that'll be causing your problem.

How does the "out of synch" manifest itself? Is it:

    a) OK and then suddenly out?
    b) OK and then starts to gradually go out?

Your machine is faster than mine and I have no problems. It is either process or source at fault.

  6. at the start the audio/video is fine and it gradually loses the sync

i captured the video with my leadtek winfast 2000 deluxe card, from a vcr, in mpeg-2 format at 4233kb/s bitrate.

the original clip is fine and in sync

  7. I just tried encoding the last 4 minutes only of the clip and it worked out fine. But the full clip loses the sync

I wonder if there's a bad frame(s) in there that might be triggering the problem? That's a stab in the dark as I don't capture / edit MPEG, nor can I recommend any tools to see if there is a bad frame.

Hopefully someone else can step in and be of more help... Sorry I couldn't help more?
