Dirac has been around for ages. It is still slow though, the quality isn't that special and the encoding tools too complicated. That is compared to say SNOW. I believe current video lan builds support dirac encoding though.

Maybe I'm missing something but, if I'm not, then there's no Dirac codec to download yet. I went to one page at Sourceforge to download the latest GZ file (0.5.2) and it only has HTML files and other non-installable files inside of a TAR file (sheesh).
