    I have downloaded TV programmes using BBC Iplayer but wanted to put these on my phone.Although they are MP4's they do not transfer.Any idea if there is a way to put the files on my phone

    Please TRY give us as much details as possible.
    Phone? Nokia 3310?
    Do not transfer? What? Using itunes or what?

    But you can always try reconvert with some app like ipodme for iphone or xmedia recode, super, mobile 3gp converter for other phones.
