Just curious to see how much space is required on the hd to rip an average movie.
Thanx

Depends on the size of the movie, but any where from 6 to 8 gigs is normal.

Best to keep at least 8 gig free for the rip and conversion, I have seen vob's exceed 6 gig and then you have about a 1 gig wave file created by dvd2avi. and all this must be there for the encode process, which will ad another 1-1.5 gig file.

8gb is not enought in a lot of cases. i too recomend having at 15gb free. i have ripped dvds with more then 7gb and then 10gb is absolute minimum if not to little.
Well, I am the slime from your video.

I'd say 10 gig should be enough. But you can buy 15 gigs or 20 gigs almost the same prices now. So if you already have free space (10 gigs) in your old HDD, that's fine, but if not buy a new one with 20 gigs or ((((maybe 40 gigs just to make sure
