  1. What is the best way to go from a DIVX (AVI) to SVCD? I would like to be able to use CCE to encode, but will take other suggestions. Thanks.

  2. Going to SVCD to divx often results in a noisy svcd. VCD is probably better. Try tmpgenc 12a if you want to though

I've never had a single problem converting Divx to SVCD,
NTSC or PAL. I've used several versions of TMPEGnc, most
recently 12h i think is the latest.

But oddly, however, i've had tons of problems converting
Divx to VCD! So i went directly to SVCD instead of fighting
along with VCD specs. I've burned many Divx->SVCD's to
    90min CDR's quite nicely.

    Give it a try.

Keep in mind that DivX has less information of the movie than with SVCD (SVCD takes 2 CD's and DivX mostly only 1).
So converting to SVCD will result in less quality...

And also it depends what kind of material you're encoding
(Divx->SVCD). Slow motion film material you can use lower
bitrates that gives you more space in CDR-wise.

    CK.
