Greetings all. This is my first post here. I did a search, but didn't find this topic, so forgive me if this has been covered before:

I just got a Panasonic DMR-ES10S DVD recorder. Thus far, I'm pretty pleased with it, with the exception of one thing: the discs it makes, once finalized, are copy-protected. DVD Shrink won't touch them at all, I have to use DVD Decrypter to be able to read the discs. I forget the exact protection format that DVD Decrypter reported, but it was "CMRR" or something similar.

Any idea what's going on here? I've looked through the Panasonic's menus, but I can't see anything that even remotely resembles something that would cause this problem.

    Help!

  2. That's CPRM, intended for "copy once" encoded TV programs that you may record. That feature sometimes causes problems for Shrink even when you have recorded your own stuff.

You should be able to simply copy the entire VIDEO TS folder off of the disc and on to your computer hard drive by dragging it onto your desktop or into some other folder. You don't really need to use Shrink or Decrypter for that. Then you can easily burn more copies of it with Nero, or change the VOB's to MPG's for editing, etc.
